Historic photographs of churches taken from 1871 to 1941 in New Mexico
Over the years since 1871, many government agencies have used photographers
to take pictures in New Mexico. The National Archives has collected some
of these pictures of northern New Mexican churches. Government agencies
have included the War Department, the National Park Service, Smithsonian
Institude, and the Department of Agriculture. Noted photographer Ansel
Adams took photographs numbered 6, 7, 8, and 9 displayed on the next page.
On the next page, some of these pictures of churches are shown, in "gallery"
format--all taken between 1871 and 1941. To view these pictures, please
SCROLL RIGHT on the next page, (instead of down), as they are displayed
as though mounted on a long gallery wall.
