SAN GERONIMO MISSION in 1920 was in ruins. Erected in 1600,
this church was battered by artillery on February 3, 1847. This is
the shrine of Indian heroism and martrydom, where 150 were killed
and great numbers wounded. Taos Mountains, New Mexico, are background.
SANTA ANA MISSION at the Santo Domingo, New Mexico, Pueblo in
southwest United States was first erected in 1700 but destroyed by flood
in 1885. This building (built in the 1920's) is typical of early New
Mexico missions.
